ABOUT Mia

An Edinburgh-based artist and graduate of the University of Edinburgh with a BA (Hons) in Painting, she explores the ever-evolving relationship between humans and the natural world. Her practice reflects a deep interest in how we connect to, shape, and are shaped by our environments.

From a young age, she has held a strong love for animals. Growing up with a fascination for wildlife and the natural world, she developed a lasting sensitivity to their presence, movement, and quiet intelligence. This early connection continues to inform her work, with animals frequently appearing in her paintings as symbolic figures — embodying instinct, vulnerability, resilience, and our shared existence within nature.

Working primarily with bold colour and expressive mark-making, her paintings aim to evoke both energy and intimacy. Alongside painting, she works across a range of mediums including screen printing and collage, allowing material and process to actively shape the narrative within each piece.
